It’s that time again. The weekend is ending, and shortly you will have to be getting up early and heading off to work again, but alas! Fear not! We have put together a list of things you can do, call them rituals if you’d like, to make that week ahead seem a little less daunting.
Firstly, write down a to-do list/schedule for the upcoming week.
By simply writing down everything you have to do into an organised list or weekly planner, it will take the stress out of trying to remember everything and eliminate that horrid feeling we all get when we’re convinced we’ve forgotten something!
Tidy the house
Take the time to clean up round the house. Do that laundry that’s been sat in the corner for a week or clear up after the big Sunday roast that managed to use nearly every pan in the kitchen. Whilst it might seem like a tedious task, once you’re surrounded by a clean and tidy environment, you’ll find you’re more relaxed and calmer.
Prepare your food ahead of the week
Whether you simply make yourself a packed lunch ready for Monday, or go the whole hog and plan and prepare every meal for the next seven days, just getting a head start on your meals for the week will take the stress out of dinner time each evening and ensure it is easier to eat the healthy, pre-prepared meal rather than grab a takeaway on the way home from work!
Exercise
Going for a long walk with the dogs or even hitting the gym for 45 minutes will give you that little boost of energy you need to make it through the next week! Joking aside, working out and being active will help you stay healthy and happy, being more able to tackle that Monday morning feeling.
Relax and unwind
Run a hot bath. Have a cup of decaff tea. Do some yoga. Whatever it is you do to relax, do it! Taking a bit of time for yourself and just chilling will help you calm your mind and find you’re more able to focus. Plus, who doesn’t love a bit of ‘me time’?
Get an early night
Yes, we said it. It’s time to put that phone down, turn your laptop off, and get some shut eye. Going to bed that little bit earlier will allow you to wake up feeling well rested and refreshed, and trust me, there’s nothing worse than starting your work week shattered and needing all the coffee in the world to get you through! So, get some sleep, and you can thank us later.
